——专访宁波东钱湖华茂希尔顿度假酒店总经理陈子敦先生

总经理陈先生拥有丰富的酒店管理经验，总是以热情的笑容和充沛的行动力感染着周围所有人。从事酒店行业超过20年，陈先生的酒店职业生涯开始于吉隆坡香格里拉酒店，曾先后进入吉隆坡香格里拉、上海静安希尔顿等不同地区品牌酒店进行管理工作，在吉隆坡、三亚、马尼拉、北京、上海等地都曾留下自己忙碌工作的身影。2010年，陈子敦受到香格里拉集团的再次邀请，回到菲律宾马尼拉继续酒店管理工作。2012年，他离开马尼拉, 回到中国，加入了希尔顿集团。从那之后到现在，他已经在中国度过了第八个年头。
关于中国酒店行业正经历的变化、机遇和挑战，他这样说：“近年来，中国的酒店行业一直在蓬勃发展，众多国际品牌纷纷被引进市场，中国本土自己的品牌也得到了充分成长。现阶段的挑战在于，中国酒店业缺乏专业人才的培养。行业发展得太快，人才跟不上发展的速度。因此应该更积极发掘有潜力的员工，设置高质量的培训。
“现在，我们更该仔细考虑产品的特色，去分析产品和品牌的市场前景，是否可以引进新技术满足或超越客人的期待。现在已经过去了单靠价格来竞争的时代。最重要的是，对客人的关怀、人性化的体验、发自内心的服务这是成功做好一家酒店的标准。
“我很幸运，在我的职业道路上遇到很多好领导，他们真切愿意帮助员工的成长。当我成为了总经理，我也希望员工对我的尊重是基于我的工作能力，而不是我的职位。对员工，去规定他、责备他是得不偿失的，并且效果也不好。在酒店行业，互相尊重、互相信任是很重要的，这样我们才能达成一个共同的目标。”

Whether you take a bird’s eye view from a hill, look out across the lake, or come across it by coincidence, Dongqian Lake will be imprinted in your mind. This is where Hilton Ningbo Dongqian Lake Resort is located. We are honored to have interviewed Mr. Dennis Chin, General Manager of Hilton Ningbo Dongqian Lake Resort right before the hotel’s opening.
Mr. Chin greets everyone with a warm smile, with his enthusiastic personality, he exerts a positive influence to all the people who surrounded by him. With over 20 years of hospitality experience, Mr. Chin has extensive hotel management experience. He started his hospitality career with Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur and has worked for other hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Sanya, Manila, Beijing and Shanghai. He was invited to rejoin Shangri-La Hotel in Manila and continued his career with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in 2010. In 2012, he left Manila and returned to China. He joined Hilton Hotels and Resorts and have worked for Conrad Beijing and Hilton Shanghai. By now he has worked in China for more than 8 years.
He shared his comments on the current transformation, challenges and opportunity of China’s hospitality industry. "China’s hospitality industry has grown rapidly in the past few years, with a number of international hotels being introduced into the local market, while the local hotels have also shown a substantial growth. The major challenge now is the shortage of well-trained hospitality talents. With the phenomenal industry growth, we must offer quality training to our staffs, to discover talented employees and to explore their potentials, in order to make up for such shortage."
“Now, we should deliberate as how we could offer unique products by analyzing the market prospects through our products and branding, will we be able to adopt new technology in order to meet and exceed guests’ expectations. We are no longer be able to focus on price competition only. Most importantly, the success of a hotel is based on the care given to its guests, offer flexible, personalized guest experience and sincere hospitality service from the heart. ”
“I am very grateful throughout my career, I have been guided by a number of brilliant leaders who offer guidance toward myself. As I am now being promoted as a General Manager, I do look forward for my team to respect myself due to my capability instead of my tittle. When dealing with my team, I avoid by giving excessive disciplinary actions, as this will not achieve any positive result, instead it will create a negative impact towards the team. In the hospitality industry, mutual respect and trust is the most vital importance requirement, as this will allow both party to achieve their common goal. ”
Currently, Mr. Chin is busily engaged in the pre-opening of the Hilton Ningbo Dongqian Lake Resort. The resort is situated in the peninsular opposite of the Yinwan Village in the Dongqian Lake. When darkness falls, as you look afar, the twinkling lights from fishing boats and households make you wonder whether you have travelled across time to arrive at this paradise on earth.
